Bartlett Contemporaries with the Uptown Funk Sound is an urban contemporary band based in Queens, NY. From Bebop to Hip Hop, the Bartlett Contemporaries broad-based appeal is experienced by many. The band has performed for Essence Communications, was Oprah Winfrey's choice to perform for her Random House book party in Miami, the Boston Guardsmen, performed for the late great Miles Davis's 60th birthday party, and wedding receptions of movie producer Spike Lee, and Congressman Gregory Meeks to name a couple.
The band is well known throughout the tri-state area and beyond for performing at recent high profile corporate events, such as:
Congressional Black Caucus (PAC) Gala at Cipriani Wall St.
Gateway JFK Gala
Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning 50th Anniversary Gala
LIJ Forest Hills Hospital Champions on the Hill Event
Queens Borough President Donovan Richard’s State of the Borough Address 2022 and 2025
October 2024, Congressman Gregory Meeks Senior Appreciation Luncheon at Resorts Casino NYC. (1,300 In attendance)
York College’s 55th Anniversary Gala
The band’s sound is a fresh explosive sound, with the emphasis on phenomenal vocalists and exceptional instrumentalists. The listed milestone events, and its organizers choice of Bartlett Contemporaries for entertainment clearly demonstrates a desire to make their event unique and special.
What is also noteworthy, while the Bartlett Contemporaries continues to perform at a high level its co-leaders Charles & Carl Bartlett remain an active part in serving the community. Nothing exemplifies this more than the community service that is provided by the Bartlett Foundation, Inc., which is a 501c3 public charity, of which the Bartlett Contemporaries is its progenitor.
It is no surprise that the community minded Bartlett Contemporaries would be the progenitor of the Bartlett Foundation Inc., whose mission is Enrichment Through the Power of Music for students, seniors, veterans and the community at large
As educators and musicians, Charles and Carl Bartlett, continue their commitment to the belief of Frederick Douglass that, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”
Without a doubt there remains a message in the music.
